The Crucible
16-25 August
See Arthur Miller's classic play about a farmer (John Proctor) and his young servant-girl who maliciously causes his wife to be wrongfully arrested for witchcraft.
Proctor brings the girl to court to admit her lie, but in the courtroom a monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is revealed - with terrifying consequences. While trying to save his wife, Proctor finds himself also accused of witchcraft and is ultimately condemned with a host of other townspeople.
