Gemco Players is looking forward to holding yet another friendly festival in our theatre The Gem, and we invite you to come along and watch plays from all over Victoria.

We have updated our logo to reflect this years Awards lovingly crafted by Evie Housham

Session 1 - Saturday 3pm

Hobo Playhouse - Tuesdays are for Bill by Paul Hannah - Comedy (G)

Two widows visit the graves of their husbands. One has been coming for years, the other is a brand new widow. As the widows reveal how their husbands died, the ghosts of the two husbands appear - the audience can see them but the widows can't.

Nautilus Theatre Project - The Art of Fencing by Chris Dickins - Drama (G)

The Art of Fencing is a short play that explores the relationship of two neighbours over a 12-month period. Over four seasons the audience learns about the long running dispute over a fence between two properties, one owned by Mrs Sherman (played by Christine Skicko) and the other owned by Mr Peabody (played by author Chris Dickins). The play mixes comedy and drama to explore secrets they both hold and Mrs Sherman’s patient endeavours to get Mr Peabody to overcome his obsessions and bitterness to become open once more to people and the world.

Warrandyte Theatre Company - Smitten by Anna Stillaman and Mark Matthews - Comedy (G)

A love story between two adults who can neither bare to be apart nor share.

1812 - Next in Line by Chris Hodson - Drama (M - themes)

A daughter returns home from working overseas, after hearing of the death of her brother. Meeting her father again after several years away is not all they would prefer it to be. Expectations, responsibilities and a dark past now conflict with her current lifestyle.

Session 2 - Saturday 7pm

Powderkeg Players - Slut by Patricia Cornelius - Drama (MA)

Slut was Patricia Cornelius' response to the 2007 Melbourne CBD shootings, and the media's treatment of a stripper who was assaulted immediately prior. A chorus of young women watch and comment on Lolita's rise and final devastating fall from primary school to adulthood. This creatively gritty abstract play powerfully looks at female sexuality, slut shaming and the power of words to offend, label, hurt and influence behaviour.

Dizzy Productions - Ebbed by Mark Lucas - Drama (MA)

John is lost in an unreal world . He has the biggest decision to make. There is a carnival full of unusual character helping and guiding john along his Journey . Who is John?

Gemco Players - Aftermath by Kylie Rackham - Drama (PG)

This play has been withdrawn due to an actors indisposition.

Session 3 - Sunday 11am

Hartwell Players - Lobster Man by Jonathan Cook - Drama (PG)

Mark and Christa are trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, feeling certain that they are the last two people on the planet, but that reality is shattered when a stranger arrives at their residence and Mark is faced with the bizarre fact that this visitor is someone he created in a fairytale he told to Christa earlier that day.

Peridot Theatre Company - On the Edge by Kylie Rackham - Drama (M)

Adrian is on the edge, literally, as he summons up the courage to end it all. Joel is ready to fly off it in a final moment of exhilaration. Can these two strangers change each other's lives in a chance meeting? 'On the Edge' is a play about two men at a pivotal moment as they grapple with the notion of responsibility and the value of their lives.

Shalafron Productions - Acceptance by Alfred Krause - Drama (G)

Acceptance is a play that searches through societies involvement into Multiculturalism, Socialism, and Terrorism, by utilizing the five stages of loss.
The play endevours to take the audience on a path through these given subjects that are prudent to out Society and present an understanding of Acceptance.

Flash in the Pan - Anna Alone by Cat Coxan - Drama (PG)

Anna must try to reconcile who she is to move on from her past.

Session 4 - Sunday 3pm

Here There & Everywhere - Therapy by Phillip A Mayer - Drama (M)

A drama/black comedy about sharing, accepting and dealing with the consequences of our life choices! Kelvin has a problem .. Actually, he has several problems, and he’s trying to sort through them with varying degrees of success! With the help of his new therapy group, he’s hopeful he’ll make some progress and find some solutions! But perhaps his therapist has another agenda, as some unforeseen twists present themselves along the five-step path to accepting his situation!

Warrandyte Theatre Company - A Little Book of Oblivion by Stephen Bean - Comedy (G)

An absurd play about a box, a park bench and four characters, all with a strange view of the world and what could possibly be in the box.

Adelphi Theatre - Another Pair of Spectacles by Victor Bridges - Comedy (G)

An unusual pair of spectacles uncovers a few family secrets.
