Child Safety & Compliance Requirements

As a community theatre group that actively coordinates youth drama classes, workshops, and multi-generational productions, Gemco Players is committed to maintaining a child-safe environment.

In alignment with Victorian Child Safe Standards, all adult members (18 years and over) who are actively involved in our activities must hold a valid screening clearance. You cannot participate in rehearsals, backstage work, or theatre operations without a verified status on file.

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

If you do not hold a teaching registration, you must provide a valid Working with Children Check.

Volunteer WWCCs are completely free of charge. Apply for a WWCC here.

You must officially list Gemco Players Community Theatre as an associated organisation on your profile.

Anyone in Australia can apply for a Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC), even if they live completely interstate.

If you already hold a valid WWCC

Update your Working with Children Check details here to list Gemco Players Community Theatre Inc. as an associated organisation on your profile.

Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration

Current, active VIT-registered teachers are exempt from needing a separate WWCC card. However, to utilize this exemption for community theatre work, you must complete the legal notification process to link your credentials to our venue.

Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) requires you to submit this information directly to Working with Children Check Victoria (WWCCV). You can do this online via the Service Victoria Teacher Notification Portal.
